Description
Grow a garden filled with Purple Peony Poppy plants from freshly harvested Papaver paeoniflorum seeds. Purple Peony Poppy plants are attractive flowering plants that grow to an average height of roughly 24 to 32 inches tall. Their double petaled blooms are ruffled with a light purple coloring, measuring up to 4 inches wide. Purple Peony Poppy will bloom for a few short weeks, later wilting with the heat of summer, exposing their large, poppy seed pods.
Grown as an annual flowering plant, the Purple Peony Poppy will grow quickly from freshly harvested flower seeds, bloom in the late spring to early summer, later wilting with the arrival of winter. The seed pods, once dried can be cut, for use in floral arrangements and bouquets. The seeds can also fall to the bare ground beneath, establishing new plants the following growing season.
Purple Peony Poppy flowers can be established directly in the garden, in flower beds, along driveways, walkways & fences or even in a naturalized setting, by the masses. These gorgeous blooms glisten in the sunlight and can attract an array of beneficial insects to the garden, such as butterflies, bumblebees, ladybugs & even hummingbirds as well.
