Description

Grow "Miss Jekyll" Love in a Mist flowers, from freshly harvested Nigella damascena flower seeds. Miss Jekyll will produce pale blue flowers atop fern like foliage. The plants themselves will reach a mature height of roughly 12 to 18 inches tall and can spread 12 to 18 inches wide. The unusual blooms of Miss Jekyll Nigella will bloom through the summer months, attracting an array of beneficial insects to the garden, such as butterflies, bumblebees, honeybees & hummingbirds as well.

Miss Jekyll Nigella is categorized as an annual flowering plant. They will grow quickly from flower seeds, bloom profusely through the summer months and later die with the first frost. The seeds can fall to the bare ground beneath at the end of the season to regrow the following spring. You can also collect the seeds from Nigella seed pods once they are allowed to dry out.

Plant Miss Jekyll Nigella flowers directly in the garden, in flower beds and raised beds. They are also popularly grown in pots & containers, used as a border plant, or sown by the masses. Miss Jekyll Nigella flowers can be used as a cut flower in many floral arrangements & bouquets as well. You can even dry out the flowers and foliage for use in potpourri, or in arts and crafts.

Sowing The Seed

Nigella flower seeds are best established directly outdoors when the weather is warm and all danger of frost has passed. Clear your sowing area of all unwanted plant life and weeds. Turn the dirt or lay down a new sowing medium. Scatter the black seeds to the surface of the soil not covering them with more than 1/16" of topsoil. They will require a bit of direct lighting to properly germinate.

Growing Conditions

Nigella flowers will enjoy an area of full sunlight and enjoys temperatures of at least 68F to 70F. They are adaptive to many soil conditions, but just be sure to check the drainage of your sowing medium. To increase your drainage, we recommend adding a light compost to any areas that consist of hard, compact soil. Water the seeds daily with a mist setting so that the seeds receive an ample amount of moisture until germination has occurred.

Germination & Growth

Your Nigella flower seeds will begin to sprout open within as little as 7 to 14 days after sowing. The plants will reach a mature height of roughly 12 to 18 inches tall, spreading a good 12 to 18 inches wide. The plants themselves can be spaced about 12 inches apart from one another. These unusual flowering plants will produce blue blooms and display fern like foliage. They make an excellent cut flower for floral arrangements & bouquets and can be dried out for potpourri as well.
