Description
Grow a beautiful garden filled with a mixture of Peony Poppy flowers, from freshly harvested Papaver paeoniflorum seeds. This double mixture will produce poppy flowers in shades of pink, purple, white, red, and deep violet as well. Each bloom will open up to a diameter of about 4 to 5 inches wide, displaying ruffled petals, creating a pom-pom effect. Birds, butterflies and other beneficial insects will cling to these beauties through the late Spring, and early Summer season. Each plant grows to a mature height of roughly 24 to 36 inches tall, displaying attractive foliage and trademarked, hairy stems.
Peony Poppies are categorized as annual flowering plants and will grow quickly from seed, producing many blooms for a few short weeks. The plants later wilt with the freezing temperatures of the winter season. If allowed to self seed, the plants can regrow the following year. Poppies prefer cool temperatures and do best in late Spring to early fall and they may not flower heavily in the heat of Summer. The blooms can be allowed to dry out for use in many arts and crafts, and even scrapbooking as well.
Plant Peony Poppies directly in the garden, in raised beds, along driveways, walkways and even fences too. Peony Poppies prefer to be planted in loose soils and don't do well in pots and containers, however they can thrive if the container is deep enough.
