Description

Grow Coreopsis, Lance Leaved from freshly harvested Coreopsis lanceolata flower seeds. Coreopsis Lance Leaved is a perennial flowering plant that will establish a deep root system, allowing it to return the following years. The plants themselves grow to a mature height of about 18 to 36 inches tall, producing beautiful, golden-yellow flowers. The blooms open up to a width of about 1 to 2 inches in diameter.

Bumblebees & honey bees love the Coreopsis Lance Leaved wildflower as well as other insects as well. It is known to also attract butterflies, hummingbirds and even ladybugs. This Coreopsis wildflower looks great in borders, flowerbeds, along driveways & walkways and even in the masses in an open field. The flowers will bloom through the summer months, but it is important to deadhead this plant for extended blooming time.

Sowing The Seed

Coreopsis Lance Leaved are best established directly outdoors when the weather is warm and all danger of frost has passed. Simply clear the area of all unwanted plant life, turning the soil, or replacing it with new soil. Scatter the circular seeds directly to the surface of the soil. Leave the seeds slightly covered with 1/16" of earth, as they will require light to germinate properly.

Growing Conditions

Coreopsis will enjoy an area that receives full sunlight for the majority of the day. The plants thrive in temperatures of roughly 68F or higher and aren't too picky on soil conditions. Although they do prefer a soil that is well draining. To improve drainage, you can always add a light compost to areas containing hard, compact soil. Water daily until germination has occurred.

Germination & Growth

The seeds will begin to show signs of life within as little as 7 to 10 days after sowing. The plants themselves will reach a mature height of roughly 18 to 36 inches tall and can spread 1 to 2 feet in width. Spacing the plants 12 to 18 inches apart is recommended. When the plants begin to flower, you will enjoy an explosion of golden-yellow flowers that will attract an array of beneficial insects to the garden.
