Description

Grow a garden filled with Lacy Phacelia, from freshly harvested Phacelia tanacetifolia seeds. A relative of “California Bluebell,” Lacy Phacelia is an annual flowering plant that will produce clusters of lavender purple flowers. The plants of Lacy Phacelia will grow to a mature height of about 12 to 24 inches tall and will bloom throughout the summer months. They are known to attract an array of beneficial insects including bumblebees, hummingbirds, butterflies & even ladybugs.

Grown as an annual flowering plant, Lacy Phacelia will sprout & grow quickly, bloom profusely and then later die with the first frost. Lacy Phacelia flower seeds can be collected at the end of the season to regrow the following year. Seeds of this beautiful flowering plant can also drop to the bare ground beneath it to naturally reestablish the following year as well.

Sowing The Seed

Lacy Phacelia flower seeds are best sown directly outdoors or in the garden when the weather is warm and all danger of frost has passed. Begin by clearing your sowing area of all unwanted weeds and other plant life. Turn the soil, or replace it with new soil in its place. Sprinkle your Lacy Phacelia flower seeds directly to the surface of the soil, covering them very lightly with 1/8 inch of soil. See below for further information on spacing.

Growing Conditions

Lacy Phacelia flower seeds & plants will require an area of full sunlight for the majority of the day. They will also need temperatures of at least 55F to 60F to thrive. Provide a soil that is poor or rich, just make sure that it is well draining. In areas that consist of hard compacted soil, try mixing a fluffy compost to improve drainage. Water daily with a light mist setting so that the soil is kept moist, but never soaked. Phacelia tanacetifolia plants will do well in drought like conditions.

Germination & Growth

Your flower seeds will begin to show signs of life within 7 to 14 days after sowing. The plants will grow to a mature height of about 12 to 24 inches tall and can be spaced anywhere from 12 to 18 inches apart from one another. Lacy Phacelia produces lavender, blue colored flowers that bloom throughout the summer months.
